General Questions
You will find answers about our Oman Bayan customs clearance, import documentation, and global freight services below. Please feel free to contact us if you need immediate assistance.
To clear commercial cargo through the Royal Oman Police Directorate General of Customs Bayan system, mandatory documents include:
- Commercial Invoice: Signed and stamped with HS tariff codes and currency values.
- Original Bill of Lading (B/L) / AWB: Master and House transport documents endorsed by consignee.
- Certificate of Origin (COO): Attested by the Chamber of Commerce in the origin country.
- Detailed Packing List: Gross weight, net weight, package dimensions, and seal numbers.
- Delivery Order (DO): Issued by the carrier confirming freight release.
Standard clearance timelines depend on cargo inspection classification and documentation readiness:
- Air Freight at Muscat Airport (MCT): 4 to 8 hours from airline cargo breakdown.
- Ocean FCL at Sohar Port / PSQ: 24 to 48 hours from container discharge, avoiding demurrage.
- Border Land Ports (Wajajah / Hafeet): 2 to 4 hours for standard GCC bonded transit trucks.
Yes. We process industrial duty-free exemptions under Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) licenses and bilateral GCC trade treaties, including temporary admission bonds for re-export equipment.

Choosing between FCL and LCL depends on your cargo volume, urgency, and budget:
- FCL (Full Container Load): You hire an entire dedicated 20ft or 40ft container for your goods only, sealed at origin until warehouse delivery.
- LCL (Less than Container Load): Your goods share container space with other consignments. You pay strictly for the exact volume (CBM) and weight utilized.
We supply all ISO standard and specialized ocean equipment:
- 20ft Standard Dry (20'GP): ~33 CBM capacity, best for dense, heavy machinery parts, tiles, and minerals.
- 40ft High Cube (40'HC): ~76 CBM capacity with extra vertical height for consumer cargo and retail.
- Reefers & Open Tops: Active refrigeration (-30°C to +30°C) and flat racks for out-of-gauge project equipment.
Air freight is ideal for time-critical cargo (2-5 days globally) or urgent industrial spares. Airlines charge by whichever is higher between actual gross weight and volumetric weight: Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ 6,000.
We operate daily scheduled linehaul and FTL transport connecting Oman with UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah in 24-48 hrs), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah via Rub Al Khali highway), Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain under TIR transit.
Frequently Asked Questions
You will find answers about our quotation process, trade Incoterms, cargo insurance protection, and tracking milestones below. Please feel free to contact us if you need further details.
We support all official ICC Incoterms 2020 rules. Key terms for Oman shipping include:
- CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight): Seller covers freight and basic insurance to destination port (e.g. Sohar). Buyer manages import customs, port handling, and inland transport.
- DAP (Delivered at Place): Door-to-door transit to customer premises; buyer remains responsible only for import customs duties and VAT upon arrival.
- DDP (Delivered Duty Paid): Complete seamless service where IHSAN handles all freight, destination customs clearance, duties, taxes, and final delivery to door.
To formulate the most optimized proposal, our pricing team requires five key details: origin and destination addresses, cargo description and HS code, total gross weight and dimensions (L × W × H), preferred transport mode (sea, air, or road), and required trade term (Incoterm).
Every consignment is assigned a dedicated tracking reference with automatic proactive milestone notifications at departure, transshipment hubs, customs declaration lodgment, and final delivery Proof of Delivery (POD).
Yes. Under Institute Cargo Clauses (A), we provide comprehensive All-Risks Marine & Inland Cargo Insurance covering full commercial invoice value plus 10% freight buffer against damage, rough handling, jettison, theft, or general average loss.
